By The Numbers - part the one hundreth and third

By now, unless your braindead and living in some faraway cave, you've noticed that the MAGAnauts commited suicide on Tuesday. But, of course, how? Going into voting, it seemed to me that turnout, on both sides, would be the factor. Here's some numbers (from a local teeVee station, no less) that point the way.
About 124 million people voted in the 2026 midterm elections, according to preliminary data from the University of Florida Election Lab. That's up from the 112 million in 2022 and 118.6 million in 2018.

While the over number of votes cast is up, the voter turnout rate for 2026 still lags behind both the 2022 and 2018 midterms, which saw a 69% and 79% voter turnout rate, respectively. In 2026, the preliminary voter turnout rate was 63%.

Voter turnout was calculated using voter registration data from L2 and the U.S. Census Bureau. Voter registration has increased from 153 million in 2018 to 196 million in 2026.
Of course, weighing turnout is a volatile notion. So, by the numbers, the percent turnout is down from earlier midterms. BUT, note the registration numbers: a whopping 43 million more possible voters. That's a bunch.

Some Questions - more:2

Well... the Blue Bunker Busters hit their targets. So, now what? A few questions (likely to be amended as the days go by).

Will this be the end of Ayatollah 17% Don©, or will he just go stark raving mad with EOs and figure the The Gang of Six© will back him up? IOW, will the last two years of Batshit J. Fucking Moron©Tillerson be far more unhinged than the first?

Did the GOP get their wish? Not having the balls to take on the madman, they prayed for the Dems to take him out and got their answer. Alas, the method led to a whole bunch of them looking for real jobs.

What of impeachments? Hegseth is first in line. Bessent a close second, and McMahon a deserving third.

What of SCOTUS? Gossip, before the Blue Bunker Busters hit, was that either or both of Alito and Thomas would "retire" in order to stuff the The Gang of Six© with a couple of 40-ish boot lickers to continue the fascism deep into another generation. Not much chance of that now. Expect an attempt before the next Congress; their only chance.

Iran? Double, triple down (as has been widely reported via rumour)? A real dictator wouldn't hesitate.

Will the Red State legislatures do the "Governor ain't got no power no mo" stunt? 100%.

Poor Elon!! A nomad madman from now on. Dump CA for TX, and then look what happens!! May be he'll decamp for Alberta. The one in Canada?

wrt to TX: historically the governor is more or less ceremonial; Abbott mattered a whole lot less than Patrick. So, who's the incoming Lt. Governor? Vikki Goodwin, a Lunatic Lefty. phew!!

Isn't simple plurality election the stupidest thing in the world? Yes, yes it is; it gave us King Don the 49%. As it happens some USofA states use some form of run-off for some elections to ensure that the elected has 50%+1. Why can't we all do it, all the time? Alaska's ranked choice voting is also called instant runoff by some. John Adams holds the worst: 31%. Poor Jackson, King Don the 49%'s idol, would his own self hold the record at 43%.
